A coffee cake is a sweet, usually yeast-raised and baked dessert that includes flour, sugar, eggs, butter and baking powder, and has a dense, moist texture. However, the only thing that makes coffee cake different from the average cake is its use of coffee.

Coffee cake is a delightful way to use coffee as a dessert. It’s often made as a single-serving cake with a single cup of coffee, or a full two-layer cake that can be served at any time.

Today I’m going to show you on how to make coffee cake, and both are easy and delicious.

9. Then serve!

How do you keep coffee cake moist?

Cake is a very delicate and highly perishable product, and it will quickly become dry and lose its sweetness if it’s not kept moist. If you don’t have a cake dome or airtight container, you can cover the cake with a piece of parchment paper and then wrap it in aluminum foil.

This protects the cake from drying out while preventing the foil from touching the cake. You can also place a layer of parchment paper over a cake dome to keep it moist.”

The best way to keep cake moist is to cut the cake into slices that are, well, about the same size. If this is too difficult to do, you’re better off buying a cake that is already sliced and storing it in the freezer until needed.

Or, if you don’t want to go the frozen route, try to keep the cake in the freezer for about an hour before you plan to serve it to get the cake to a room temperature temperature and ensure it will stay moist.

How long does homemade coffee cake last?

The shelf life of baked goods is important to know when planning for events, but because of the risks of spoilage, many people choose to serve the same-day baked goods, which are often eaten the same night they are cooked.

If you’re not sure how long your coffee cake would last, you could always recheck it every so often, or you could refrigerate it after you’ve removed it from the oven to store it for longer.

Freshly baked coffee cake will keep well for about 1 week in the fridge when properly stored; when refrigerating, cover with foil or plastic wrap to prevent cake from drying out.
